A former officer-in-charge (OC) of Kalukhali and Rajbari Sadar police stations, Masudur Rahman, was attacked by a mob while shopping at Mirpur 6 kitchen market in Dhaka on Thursday around 11 am.

According to police and eyewitnesses, a group of 10-12 individuals, identifying themselves as activists of the BNP-affiliated Swechchhasebak Dal, surrounded the officer. The attackers, led by local Swechchhasebak Dal leaders Al Amin and Rajib, physically assaulted him and allegedly snatched his mobile phone and cash while demanding money.

Masudur Rahman is currently serving with the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in Faridpur and was previously stationed as a sub-inspector in several Mirpur police stations before 2017.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) officials confirmed the incident. Law enforcement arrived on the scene and rescued the officer, subsequently detaining five individuals involved in the attack. Legal proceedings are currently underway.
