A Dhaka court has placed four leaders of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League on a four-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act over a procession in the capital’s Bangla Motor area.

Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque passed the order on Wednesday after the investigating officer sought a seven-day remand for the accused.

Those remanded are—Mizanur Rahman, former general secretary of Itna Upazila Chhatra League; Sanjib Islam, former vice president of a private university unit; and leaders Nabed Ahmed Nob and Roman Mia.

According to the case statement, the accused, along with other Awami League and affiliated activists, brought out a procession in front of Rupayan Tower at Bangla Motor under Ramna Model Police Station.

Police alleged they, together with 40–50 unidentified individuals, chanted anti-government slogans during the demonstration.
