The BTRC has instructed all the mobile phone operators of the country to provide 1-gigabyte of internet for free to every user on 18 July, to mark one year since the internet blackout imposed by the previous Awami League government during a brutal crackdown.
The free internet will be available for use for five days, as per the directive issued by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Wednesday. Earlier, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued relevant directives in this regard.
