Gazette issued merging two divisions of Home Ministry

Liberty News Desk

The government has merged the Public Security Division and the Security Services Division into a single unit under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

A gazette notification, issued on Wednesday by the Cabinet Division under the Rules of Business, 1996 (Rule 3, Sub-rule i), confirmed the merger. The order, signed by Cabinet Secretary Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid, said the decision takes immediate effect.

With the change, all administrative and operational activities of the two former divisions will now be carried out directly under the Home Ministry.
The Home Ministry was first split into two divisions—Public Security and Security Services—on 19 January 2017 to decentralise functions and improve coordination.
