Jewellers have lowered the price of gold by Tk1,576 to Tk 1,70,551 per bhori (11.664 grams) amid a tariff drop on pure gold.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Monday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk14,622 per gram, while 21-carat gold is Tk13,957 per gram, according to a press release signed by the committee chairman, Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk11,964 a gram, while that of traditional gold at Tk9,893 a gram.
New tariffs will come into effect on Tuesday, the release added.
Prices of silver, however, remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk241 per gram, 21-carat Tk230, 18-carat Tk197, and traditional silver Tk148 a gram.
