Gold prices rise again

After three consecutive price reductions, the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has announced an increase in the price of gold. The price has been raised by 3,500 taka per Bhori. As a result, the price of the highest quality, 22-carat gold (1 Bhori = 11.664 grams), will now exceed 150,000 Taka.

This information was shared in a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, Chairman of the Price Determination and Monitoring Committee of BAJUS, on Tuesday (March 4). The new prices will take effect from Wednesday (March 5).

According to BAJUS’ announcement, from Wednesday, the price of 22-carat gold will be 151,900 Taka per Bhori, 21-carat gold will be sold for 144,995 Taka per Bhori, and 18-carat gold will be priced at 124,280 Taka per Bhori. Additionally, the price of traditional gold will be set at 102,375 Taka per Bhori.

Despite a reduction in the price of gold, the price of silver remains unchanged. According to the category, the price of silver per Bhori for 22-carat is 2,578 Taka, for 21-carat it is 2,449 Taka, for 18-carat it is 2,111 Taka, and for traditional silver, the price is set at 1,586 Taka per Bhori.

Previously, on February 24, 28, and March 1, gold prices were reduced consecutively in three phases. The last reduction on March 1 saw a decrease of up to 2,624 Taka per Bhori. Following this, the price of high-quality gold (22-carat) dropped to 148,343 Taka per Bhori. Additionally, 21-carat gold was priced at 141,601 Taka, 18-carat gold at 121,376 Taka, and traditional gold at 99,890 Taka per Bhori. These prices were in effect until Tuesday.
