Gold prices in Bangladesh have increased once again, with each bhori now costing Tk 1.72 lacs, as the market adjusts to a new spike in the global price of pure gold just before Eid-ul-Azha.

The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) announced the hike in a press release issued yesterday, citing a sharp rise in the price of pure gold in the international market as the primary reason behind the decision.

Effective from today, buyers will need to pay Tk 1.72 lacs for each bhori, or 11.664 grammes, of gold—up from the previous rate of Tk 1.69 lacs.

The revised pricing was finalised at a meeting of BAJUS’s Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring. The association also instructed all jewellers across the country to strictly adhere to the newly approved rates.

With Eid-ul-Azha approaching, gold demand is expected to increase, making the latest adjustment a key factor in consumer purchasing decisions during the festive season.
