Amid global trade tensions, gold prices in Bangladesh have surged again, reaching an unprecedented level. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised the price of 22-carat gold to BDT 1,72,546 per bhori, marking the highest rate in the country’s history.

Citing a spike in the price of pure gold in the local market, BAJUS announced the latest price adjustment on Monday (April 21) evening via an official statement. The new rates will take effect from Tuesday (April 22).

According to the updated pricing, the base price of 22-carat gold stands at Tk 1,67,833 per bhori (11.664 grams). When adding the mandatory 5% VAT and 6% minimum wage as set by BAJUS, the total price reaches Tk 1,72,546.

Other price tiers include:

  • 21-carat gold at Tk 1,60,205 per bhori
  • 18-carat gold at Tk 1,37,309
  • Traditional gold at Tk 1,13,491 per bhori

BAJUS clarified that additional charges may vary depending on design and craftsmanship.

This marks the 24th adjustment of gold prices in 2025—where prices have been increased 18 times and reduced only 6 times. The previous record high was set just two days earlier, on April 19, when gold was priced at Tk 1,67,833 per bhori.
