Government declares April 3rd as a public holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr

The Ministry of Public Administration has issued a gazette notification declaring Thursday, April 3rd, as a public holiday in observance of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

On Sunday afternoon, the Ministry of Public Administration announced the holiday in a gazette notification, stating that the government has declared Thursday, April 3rd, as a public holiday through an executive order for the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The notice specifies that all government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices will remain closed during the holiday period. However, essential services such as electricity, water, gas, fire services, port operations, sanitation services, telephone and internet, postal services, and the personnel involved in these sectors will be exempted from the holiday.

Hospitals, emergency services, and their staff, including doctors and medical personnel, along with vehicles carrying medical supplies and personnel, will also be excluded from the holiday. Offices involved in emergency work will remain operational.

In addition, Bangladesh Bank will issue necessary instructions for the continuation of banking services, and the Supreme Court will provide guidelines regarding judicial activities during this period.
