The government will continue its military operation against the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) in the Chittagong Hill Tracts until the armed group is fully eradicated, declared Abdul Hafiz, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government.

In a statement following the final session of a district commissioners’ conference on Tuesday, Hafiz emphasized that the operation would persist until the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) is completely wiped out. The armed group, linked to the Kuki-Chin National Army, has been causing significant disruptions in the region, including a decline in the tourism industry, which has led to job losses among local youth. This economic downturn has, in turn, led to an increase in radicalization among the younger population, raising concerns about the growing threat of terrorism in the region.

Liberty News’ local correspondent states that Hafiz also addressed the military’s ongoing efforts, acknowledging the high human cost of the operation, with seven soldiers having lost their lives, and many others injured. Despite these losses, he affirmed that the campaign would continue relentlessly until the KNF is dismantled.
