The interim government has approved two new private satellite TV channels, various media outlets reported Tuesday, citing sources.
The new channels are: Next TV and Live TV.
On 24 June, authorities approved the license of Next TV owned by “36 Media Ltd.” NCP Joint Chief Coordinator Arifur Rahman Tuhin is the managing director of “36 Media Ltd,” which has its office at Gendaria, Dhaka.
BNP’s Saudia Arabia unit (eastern) President AKM Golam Hasnain is a director of Next TV.
On 14 July, Live TV secured approval. It is owned by Arifur Rahman, another figure tied to NCP, and operated by the parent company “Minerva Media Ltd.” Minerva Media is headquartered at Gulshan, Dhaka.
Arifur Rahman was a member of the National Citizen Committee, which contributed to the formation of NCP. Arifur Rahman himself, however, is yet to join NCP.
