The government can issue a travel pass within a day for BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman if he expresses a wish to return to the country, said Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain at a programme on Sunday.
A travel pass is a specialised travel permit that allow a specific set of individuals, particularly politicians and government officials, to board dedicated flights.
There is no restriction on Tarique to return home, Touhid said while speaking at a programme on “Bangladesh’s foreign policy in changing world order” arranged by Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) at the National Press Club.
Though the government does not know Tarique’s current status for his stay in London, it is unnatural for a foreign country to obstruct his return home, the adviser added.
