Government employees will enjoy a three-day holiday on the occasion of Durga Puja this year.
Thursday (2 October) has been declared a public holiday for Bijoya Dashami, which, combined with the regular weekend on Friday and Saturday, gives officials a continuous three-day break.
According to sources, educational institutions across the country will have an even longer holiday. Schools and colleges will remain closed from 28 September to 7 October, totaling 12 days of vacation.
Additionally, with 26-27 September (Friday-Saturday) being weekends, students will enjoy an extended break. On 6 October, students will also get an optional holiday for Lakshmi Puja.
As per the latest notification from the Secondary and Higher Education Division, all government and non-government secondary and lower secondary schools will remain closed for 12 days. The break will also cover Fateha-i-Yazdaham, Probarona Purnima, and Lakshmi Puja along with Durga Puja.
Universities, however, being government and autonomous institutions, will decide on their holiday schedules through their respective syndicate meetings.
For government employees, the three-day holiday will be observed from 2 October to 4 October.
