The government has decided to soon deploy joint teams of law enforcers to book businesspeople, who are continuing the production and marketing of polythene products despite repeated warnings.

Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan announced the decision at a meeting held on law and order at the Secretariat on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by Home Adviser Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowhdury.

“Those continuing to ignore government warnings will get no more reprieve,” the environment adviser warned.

Inclusive efforts from every section of the society is essential to protecting the environment, the adviser said adding that to realise the goal, the government would implement an “uninterrupted work plan” combining the law enforcers, local government bodies and general people.
