Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) with modern capabilities to counter any threat to the nation’s sovereignty and independence.
Speaking at an exercise observation event held at the Bir Uttam A K Khandakar Air Base in Dhaka on Wednesday, Professor Yunus emphasized the need for a technologically advanced and professionally skilled air force in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
He urged BAF personnel to remain focused on enhancing their operational capacity, technical expertise, and professional readiness. “Patriotism and professionalism are the foundations of a secure Bangladesh,” he stated, adding, “Through unity and dedication, we will build a stronger and safer nation, Inshallah.”
The Chief Adviser assured that the government will provide full support to the air force for the induction of state-of-the-art fighter jets, helicopters, transport aircraft, and radar systems. He stressed the importance of continuous international-standard training and exercises to keep pace with fast-changing global military technologies.
Paying tribute to the Air Force’s contributions during the Liberation War, Yunus also remembered the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives during the July-August 2024 anti-discrimination movement. “We salute the brave students, youth, and civilians who shed their blood for the country’s rights,” he said.
Commending the Air Force’s role in ensuring security and operational efficiency at the nation’s airports, he stated that the exercise is not just a routine drill, but a demonstration of BAF’s commitment to defending national sovereignty with skill and professionalism.
“Today’s exercise reflects the air force’s confidence, readiness, and responsibility,” he remarked, thanking the participants for their dedication and discipline. He also noted that the BAF is playing a vital role in safeguarding the country’s airspace as well as ensuring maritime security in extensive coastal areas.
Earlier, the Chief Adviser was welcomed at the airbase by Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan. A well-disciplined BAF contingent presented a state salute, followed by the national anthem.
