In a recent development, the government has set the maximum rent for storing potatoes in cold storage facilities across the country at Tk 6.75 per kilogram. The decision was made through an official order signed by Mohammad Reza Ahmed Khan, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Agricultural Marketing, on Sunday. The notification clarifies that the new rental rate will apply to all cold storage facilities across the country.
Liberty News’ economic correspondent states that this decision was made under the authority granted by Section 16 (k) of the Agricultural Marketing Act, 2018. The move aims to regulate and standardize the storage cost, ensuring fair pricing for farmers and preventing excessive charges by cold storage owners. The new rent rate is expected to benefit potato producers, ensuring more affordable and accessible storage options.
