Tensions soared along the Line of Control (LoC) as Indian and Pakistani forces exchanged gunfire throughout the night, marking the fifth consecutive night of hostilities.
Gunfire continued overnight along the Kashmir border between Indian and Pakistani troops, according to Indian media outlet NDTV. The latest incident took place on the night of April 28, intensifying fears of escalating conflict in the region.
NDTV reported that Pakistani forces violated the ceasefire agreement for a fifth straight night, firing small arms across the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara, Baramulla, and Akhnoor sectors. The Indian Army responded in what they described as a “restrained and effective manner.”
Indian military sources confirmed that Pakistani troops opened fire without provocation. However, no casualties have been reported so far. Pakistan has yet to issue any official statement regarding the allegations.
Since last Thursday night, Pakistani forces have reportedly fired multiple rounds at Indian posts along different points of the LoC. The cross-border tensions have reignited long-standing hostilities despite a ceasefire understanding brokered between the two nations.
