Six killed as gunmen open fire on car in Pakistan

At least six people were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a passenger vehicle in Gujrat city, Punjab, Pakistan, on Sunday, March 2.

According to reports from Geo News, the attack occurred in the Miana Chak Dinga area of Gujrat. After the shooting, the attackers fled the scene, and authorities are currently searching for them. The police suspect the attack was the result of personal enmity.

Rescue teams arrived quickly at the scene, transferring the bodies to the hospital. The victims, aged between 26 and 35, have been identified as Zahid Nazim, Junair, Javed Iqbal, Rukhsar, and another 26-year-old individual.

The police have cordoned off the area and launched an operation to capture the perpetrators. A spokesperson for the Punjab Police stated that the Inspector General of Police has been informed about the incident and has requested a report from the Regional Police Officer.

Liberty News’ international correspondent states that the Inspector General has ordered the swift arrest of the attackers. The number of terrorist attacks in Pakistan has increased in recent years, particularly targeting security forces.
