Leaders and activists of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh staged a protest rally in front of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Friday, raising four major demands and announcing plans for a post-rally procession.
The protest, organized by Hefazat’s Dhaka Metropolitan unit, began after Jummah prayers on the northern side of Baitul Mukarram Mosque. Participants voiced strong opposition to recent policy decisions and called for justice and reform.
Their four key demands include: the abolition of the Women’s Reform Commission, justice for all mass killings including those at Shapla Chattar and in July incidents, withdrawal of what they term as false cases against Hefazat leaders and activists, and an immediate end to the persecution of Muslims in Palestine and India.
In a parallel demonstration, members of the Jatiya Biplobi Parishad (National Revolutionary Council) also held protests demanding freedom for the oppressed Muslims of Kashmir, Palestine, and Arakan (Rohingya region).
Police presence was observed in the area to maintain order, but the rally remained peaceful at the time of reporting.
