The number of Google Messages app users is increasing every day. As its popularity continues to grow, Google is continuously rolling out new updates. Recently, a new feature is being added to the platform that will allow users to send high-resolution images. This feature will enable users to exchange high-resolution pictures through Rich Communication Services (RCS). Currently, this feature is being tested with a few beta users, and according to Gadgets 360, it will soon be available to everyone.
One major addition in this update is the new quality selector, which will allow users to send pictures in the highest resolution possible when sending them. After selecting a picture from the gallery, tapping on the HD Plus icon next to the camera icon at the top-right corner of the screen will display this option. There will be two options: one will compress the image and send it in the optimized RCS message format, the other will allow sending the image in its original resolution to maintain the highest quality.
Another significant update is the integrated camera’s new interface in Google Messages. In this new interface, the live view of the camera will occupy the upper part of the screen, taking up more than half of the screen space. Below it, users will be able to see the last six images from their phone’s gallery. Additionally, there will be an access tab to quickly view photos and videos. Users can easily scroll down to remove the gallery preview. Scrolling up will show the full gallery. Also, users will be able to select multiple images at once, including newly taken photos , previously saved ones.
Another small but effective feature is the addition of a text input box, which will be placed below the selected image. With this feature, users will be able to type a message alongside the image they are sending, allowing both the image and message to be sent together.
According to a report from 9to5Google, these new features are already available in the beta version of Google Messages ‘20250218_01_RCS_00’ its subsequent versions. With these updates, Google is moving forward in enhancing the messaging experience, making RCS-based communication easier and more advanced.
