Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus has been named among TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2025, recognized for guiding Bangladesh toward democracy and restoring human rights.

Dr. Yunus, now serving as the head of Bangladesh’s interim government, was honored under the “Leaders” category, securing the 6th spot alongside global figures like Donald Trump, Keir Starmer, Claudia Sheinbaum, and Elon Musk.

In a tribute penned by former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Yunus was praised for his decades-long commitment to empowering marginalized communities through microcredit and founding Grameen Bank. Clinton recalled meeting Yunus during a visit to Arkansas with then-Governor Bill Clinton and witnessing the global impact of his work ever since.

Referring to Bangladesh’s recent political shift, Clinton highlighted Yunus’s leadership following the fall of the authoritarian government through a student-led uprising. She wrote, “He is restoring accountability, reviving human rights, and laying the foundation for a just and free society.”

TIME noted that Yunus has sparked not only an economic revolution but also renewed hope for millions. At age 84, his leadership marks a turning point for a nation emerging from the shadows of repression.
