Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has called on officials of the Passport and Visa Wings at Bangladesh missions abroad to work with a strong sense of service.
The adviser made the remark on Sunday afternoon at the Ministry of Home Affairs conference room in Dhaka while speaking as chief guest at a training and orientation program for newly appointed first and second secretaries who will serve in passport and visa wings overseas.
Senior Secretary of the home ministry Nasimul Gani attended the event as special guest.
“The expatriate community is the driving force of Bangladesh’s economy,” Jahangir, adding, “By sending remittances, they have kept the economic foundation of our country strong. A significant portion of them are workers, so passport and visa officials must treat them with respect and maintain good relations while providing services.”
He also stressed the importance of fostering positive relationships among embassy and mission officials to create a healthy work environment.
Calling for professionalism, dedication, and sincerity, the adviser urged the officials to uphold the standards of the civil service.
The home adviser also warned that passport and visa officials must avoid all forms of corruption and refrain from political affiliations.
“No official should engage in any activity that undermines the country’s image or dignity,” he added.
