Yemen’s Huthi rebels have warned they will target American vessels in the Red Sea if the United States joins Israel’s ongoing military campaign against Iran.

The warning was issued by Huthi military spokesman Yahya Saree in a video statement on Saturday, in which he said any US “aggression” supporting Israel would not go unanswered.

“If the United States gets involved in an attack and aggression against Iran with the Israeli enemy, we will target its ships and warships in the Red Sea,” Saree said.

The Iran-aligned Huthis have repeatedly attacked Israel-linked vessels and interests in the Red Sea since the war in Gaza began in October 2023. While a US-mediated ceasefire led to a brief pause in hostilities, tensions resumed after Israel resumed military action and aid restrictions in Gaza.

Saree accused the US and Israel of seeking regional dominance and attempting to “remove” Iran as a key obstacle. He added that any American support for Israeli strikes on Iran “cannot be ignored.”

The United States, a close Israeli ally, has so far stopped short of entering direct conflict but continues to evaluate its position as Israel expands its military campaign into Iranian territory.
