The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Sunday issued an arrest warrant against Md Harun-ar-Rashid, former director general (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
The arrest warrant was issued in connection with murder cases committed during the 2024 July-August Mass Uprising and enforced disappearances.
After a hearing, Chief Prosecutor of the ICT Advocate Tajul Islam told reporters that they found the evidence of firing from RAB’s helicopters on the protestors during the July-August Mass Uprising. “In order to suppress the movement, Md Harun-ar-Rashid, the then RAB DG, ordered indiscriminate firing from the helicopters, planned and implemented the mass killings,” he said.
Liberty News’ court correspondent Tajul Islam also said the ICT issued arrest warrants against him in killing cases.
