The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Wednesday issued arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina, and 29 of her allies, after accepting the first formal charges over the ousted dictator’s alleged role in enforced disappearances.
Hasina’s security adviser Tarique Ahmed Siddique, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and former police chief Benazir Ahmed also face arrest warrants.
Earlier, the ICT prosecution team submitted two formal charges in this regard, the first against Hasina over the issue.
One of the charges mentions total five counts of offence allegedly committed by Hasina, Tarique and 15 others. The accused abducted victims to the Taskforce for Interrogation (TFI) Cell, and totured them there, as per the charge.
The other charge accuses Hasina, Tarique and 11 others of committing the same crimes at Joint Interrogation Cell (JIC).
