The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today ordered former Awami League lawmaker from Chattogram-6, ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, to appear before the tribunal on February 16.
The two-member tribunal, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, issued the order while granting a prosecution plea.
Confirming the matter, ICT prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmud stated, “We seek to arrest the former lawmaker in a case related to genocide and crimes against humanity. Therefore, we filed a petition for a production warrant. The court granted our request and set February 16 for his appearance.”
The tribunal also issued an arrest warrant for another accused, though the prosecution withheld their identity for security reasons.
Additionally, the tribunal approved two prosecution pleas for seizing necessary documents in two separate cases.
Liberty News Court correspondent reports that prosecutors BM Sultan Mahmud, Gazi MH Tamim, and Abdullah Al Noman participated in the hearing. Additionally, prosecutors Abdus Subhan Tarafder, Tarek Abdullah, and Tanvi Hasan Joha were present.
