A fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed on Wednesday night near Subhadra Nagar, about 12 kilometers from Jamnagar in Gujarat, resulting in the death of the pilot, NDTV reported.
IAF officials confirmed that the aircraft was a twin-seat Jaguar, used for routine training missions.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud explosion before seeing thick smoke rising from the crash site. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
This incident comes just days after a small aircraft from a private training academy crashed in an open field near Mehsana, Gujarat, on March 31. In that incident, a female trainee pilot sustained injuries.
