Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has apprehended an Indian national attempting to cross the border illegally at the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah on Sunday night.
An Indian citizen was arrested by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Sunday night during a routine patrol at the Baghadanga Border Outpost (BOP) in Maheshpur, Jhenaidah. The arrest took place near Border Pillar 60/33-R, approximately one kilometer inside Bangladesh, at the Kanchanpur village bridge.
According to BGB Assistant Director Saiful Islam, the individual was trying to cross the border illegally when he was caught under the leadership of Havildar Moniruzzaman Sikder. The arrested man was identified as 39-year-old Sajal Roy, son of Rupeshwar Roy, a resident of Magra Sukantapalli village in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, India.
Liberty News’ local correspondent states that Sajal Roy has been handed over to Maheshpur police station, and a case has been filed against him under the Passport Act for illegal border crossing.
