Tulip Siddiq, former UK Labour Minister and niece of ex-autocratic PM Sheikh Hasina, may face an Interpol Red Notice if she fails to appear in court over allegations of land forgery in Purbachal, Bangladesh.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Bangladesh has set a deadline of April 27 for Tulip Siddiq to appear before the court in connection with a case involving fraudulent acquisition of a government plot in Purbachal. Failure to do so may lead to an Interpol Red Notice, as confirmed by an ACC official to the British newspaper Daily Mail.

“If the accused Tulip does not appear and surrender to the court, the ACC will seek assistance from Interpol through the Bangladesh Police and Ministry of Home Affairs,” the official said.

He further noted that since the United Kingdom has been an esteemed member of Interpol since 1928, and Bangladesh is also a member, the process for issuing the Red Notice will follow standard protocol. Tulip will be treated as a fugitive suspect if she remains absent.

In response to the arrest warrant, Siddiq has claimed that the allegations are part of a politically motivated campaign against her.
