Bangladesh’s National Central Bureau (NCB) has requested Interpol to issue a Red Notice against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with 11 former ministers and top officials in three separate phases, sources confirmed Saturday morning.

The National Central Bureau (NCB) of Bangladesh Police has formally applied to Interpol seeking Red Notices against 12 individuals, including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and several key figures from the previous government.

The list includes Awami League General Secretary and former Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former Liberation War Affairs Minister A.K.M. Mozammel Haque, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, and former Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak.

Also named in the application are former Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury, former Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, former Prime Minister’s Security Advisor Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, former State Minister for Power Nasrul Hamid, former State Minister for Information Mohammad Ali Arafat, and former Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed.

The Red Notice application, submitted in three stages, indicates serious allegations that may warrant international arrest warrants pending Interpol’s review and approval. However, the specific charges or legal basis for the request have not been publicly disclosed at this stage.

If Interpol issues the Red Notices, the individuals could face restrictions on international travel and possible extradition requests from countries where they may be located. The move has already sparked political reactions domestically, with observers calling it unprecedented in the country’s political history.
