Iran has executed Mohammad Amin Mahdavi Shayesteh, who was convicted of collaborating with Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, according to semi-official Tasnim and Fars news agencies.

Described by Tasnim as “the head of a cyber-team affiliated with Mossad,” Shayesteh was arrested in late 2023. His execution marks the third in recent weeks tied to espionage allegations involving Israel.

Iranian authorities previously executed two other individuals on similar charges — one on 16 June and another on 22 July — following the escalation of hostilities with Israel that began on 13 June.

The claims against the accused could not be independently verified. Human rights organisations have raised concerns over the lack of transparency and due process in Iran’s judicial system, especially in cases involving capital punishment.
