Iran has executed a man convicted of spying for Israel’s Mossad and involvement in the assassination of a senior Revolutionary Guard officer, intensifying tensions between the two regional foes.
Iran carried out the death sentence of Mohsen Langarnashin, a man identified as a “high-level spy” working for Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad. The country’s judiciary news agency, Mizan Online, reported that Langarnashin was not only engaged in espionage but also played a role in the 2022 killing of a colonel from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Authorities stated that Langarnashin was found guilty of treason, undermining national security, and collaborating with a foreign enemy. The judiciary emphasized that Iran will continue its zero-tolerance policy against espionage to safeguard national sovereignty and internal stability.
The execution, linked to Mossad, is likely to stir fresh international debate, especially amid renewed friction over Iran’s nuclear program. Analysts suggest the incident marks a sharp escalation in the long-running covert conflict between Iran and Israel.
