Iran launched a new missile attack targeting Israel shortly after midnight on Saturday (14 June), with loud explosions heard in Tel Aviv and the occupied city of Jerusalem, according to a Reuters report.
Following the attack, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) instructed civilians and troops to immediately move into shelters and remain there until further notice. Shortly after the alert, explosions were heard in both cities, and a video published by Reuters showed smoke rising in Tel Aviv after an apparent missile strike.
The strike reportedly occurred at around 1:30 am local time.
Meanwhile, the New York Times reported that Israel is allegedly attempting to target Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In response, Iran activated its air defense systems in Tehran’s Pasdaran area where both leaders are believed to reside to counter potential Israeli strikes.
Local residents told the New York Times that multiple missiles were fired from defense systems to intercept any incoming threats in the area.
