Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan over the deadly Pahalgam attack, Iran has proposed diplomatic mediation, stressing the importance of regional stability and brotherhood.

In response to the rising conflict following a deadly assault in India-administered Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian offered to mediate between India and Pakistan to de-escalate the situation.

As reported by India Today on Friday, the minister posted on social media platform X, stating, “India and Pakistan are our brotherly neighbors. We share a relationship shaped by centuries of civilizational and cultural ties. Like other neighbors, they remain a priority for us.”

He added that Iran seeks to create an atmosphere of mutual understanding through its embassies in New Delhi and Islamabad, especially during this crisis.

The tension erupted after an armed attack in Pahalgam on April 22 claimed 26 lives, triggering strong reactions from New Delhi, which indirectly blamed Pakistan. The incident further strained the already fragile diplomatic relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

Iran’s call for dialogue aims to prevent further escalation and encourage peaceful cooperation in the region.
