Iran has formally requested another meeting of the United Nations Security Council, citing what it calls “mounting and undeniable evidence” of direct U.S. involvement in Israel’s military campaign against Iran.
In a letter to the UN, Iran’s mission condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments threatening to assassinate Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and strike nuclear facilities, calling them “brazen” and “reckless.” The statement accused Washington of being “coordinated and complicit” in acts of war and state-sponsored aggression.
“These inflammatory remarks by the head of a permanent Security Council member state are a clear violation of international law,” the letter added.
The Security Council held an emergency session last Friday following Israel’s initial strikes. While the U.S. and Israeli representatives defended the actions, many other member states called for immediate de-escalation.
