The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that Israeli airstrikes have caused “direct impacts” on the underground centrifuge halls at Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility — the core of the country’s uranium enrichment program.

This marks the first time the UN nuclear watchdog has assessed significant damage to the underground sections of Natanz, which have long been considered among Iran’s most secure sites. “Based on continued analysis of high-resolution satellite imagery collected after Friday’s attacks, the IAEA has identified additional elements that indicate direct impacts,” the agency said on Tuesday.

Above-ground structures and key electrical systems were also destroyed in the strikes, which are part of a large-scale Israeli military operation targeting Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning on Monday night, urging Tehran’s residents to evacuate. “IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON,” he wrote in a post, adding, “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” Despite speculation, Trump denied he had cut short his trip to push for a ceasefire, saying, “We’re looking at better than a ceasefire.”

Earlier, the Israeli military called for the evacuation of around 330,000 people from a neighbourhood in central Tehran. The Iranian capital, home to nearly 10 million people, has seen growing panic since the strikes began.

According to Israeli authorities, the attacks have killed at least 224 people in Iran, including military leaders and nuclear scientists. In response, Iran has fired more than 370 missiles and launched hundreds of drones at Israel, resulting in 24 deaths so far.

Explosions were reported in northern Israel on Tuesday as missile strikes continued from both sides, raising fears of further escalation.
