Iraq has strongly condemned recent US airstrikes on nuclear facilities in neighbouring Iran, warning that such actions risk destabilising the entire Middle East.
“This military escalation constitutes a grave threat to peace and security in the Middle East,” Iraqi government spokesperson Basim Alawadi said in a statement on Sunday. He added that Baghdad is “deeply concerned” by the targeting of Iran’s nuclear sites.
Alawadi urged all parties to exercise restraint and called for diplomatic efforts to prevent further deterioration of regional stability.
