Two journalists, Hosam Shabat of Al Jazeera and Mohammad Mansour of Palestine Today, have been killed in separate Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.

On Tuesday, reports from Al Jazeera confirmed that Hosam Shabat was killed when Israeli forces targeted his car in the eastern part of Beit Lahia. Shabat, who worked as a correspondent for Al Jazeera Mubasher, had previously been injured in another Israeli attack but remained committed to reporting from Gaza. According to his colleague, Tarek Abu Azem, Shabat was hit without any prior warning from the Israeli military.

In a post on social media platform X, Shabat had written, “If you are reading this, it means I have been killed—probably targeted by Israeli occupation forces.” He described his efforts over the past 18 months to document the horrors of northern Gaza, vowing to continue showing the world the truth despite the risks.

Meanwhile, in southern Gaza, journalist Mohammad Mansour, working for Palestine Today, was killed in an Israeli attack on Monday in Khan Yunis. He was reportedly killed at home, with his wife and child present, in an attack that also lacked any prior warning.

Liberty News’ international correspondent states that the killing of these two journalists brings the total number of media workers killed by Israeli strikes in Gaza since October 2023 to 208, according to Gaza’s official media office (GMO).
