An Israeli airstrike on the Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza has killed at least two people, including Ismail Barhoum, a senior member of Hamas’s political bureau, and a 16-year-old boy, according to Hamas and health authorities.

An Israeli airstrike targeted the Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, killing Ismail Barhoum, a prominent member of Hamas’s political bureau, and a young teenager. Hamas has condemned the attack, calling it “a continuation of the occupying forces’ terrorist activities” and accusing Israel of violating international law.

In a statement, Hamas confirmed that Barhoum was receiving treatment at the hospital when the airstrike struck. The health authorities in Gaza have reported the death of at least two people, with several others injured in the attack.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant confirmed that Barhoum was the primary target of the strike. The Israeli military stated that the airstrike was based on specific intelligence to minimize civilian casualties, but they also accused Hamas of using hospitals and other civilian infrastructure for military operations.

Liberty News’ international correspondent states that as of now, Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that over 50,000 Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing Israeli aggression, with more than 100,000 injured. The international community continues to call for a halt to the violence, while the region remains embroiled in a devastating conflict.
