Israeli forces have carried out a new military operation in the occupied West Bank, arresting at least 30 Palestinians, including children and former prisoners, according to prisoner rights groups.

Israeli forces launched a new raid in several cities across the West Bank on Thursday, detaining at least 30 Palestinians, including minors and former detainees, the Palestinian Prisoners Commission and “Palestinian Prisoner Society” said in a joint statement.

The operation comes amid escalating tensions in the region. Since January 21, Israel has intensified military operations in the northwest of the West Bank, resulting in the deaths of at least 65 Palestinians and displacing thousands.

According to Palestinian authorities, more than 9,500 Palestinians are currently imprisoned by Israel, including 1,555 from Gaza.

The recent military campaign has prompted warnings from Palestinian authorities, who fear it is part of a broader plan by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to annex the West Bank and assert sovereignty, potentially ending the two-state solution.

Liberty News’ international correspondent states that tensions have reached a peak since the Gaza conflict began on October 7, 2023, with at least 930 Palestinians killed and nearly 7,000 injured due to Israeli army operations and attacks from illegal settlers.
