At least 23 Palestinians were killed and over a hundred injured in a single day as Israeli airstrikes continued across the Gaza Strip, pushing the total death toll since October past 52,800.
Israeli air assaults on Gaza have claimed the lives of at least 23 more Palestinians within the past 24 hours, according to a Saturday report by Anadolu Agency. The Gaza Health Ministry confirmed that the cumulative death toll has now risen to 52,810 since the offensive began in October 2023.
In a statement, the ministry added that 124 people were wounded during the same period, raising the total number of injured to 119,473. Rescue operations remain severely hampered as many victims are still trapped beneath rubble or lying in the streets, unreachable by emergency teams.
Since the resumption of airstrikes on March 18, following the collapse of a short-lived ceasefire agreement, 2,701 people have been killed and 7,432 injured, the health ministry reported.
The United Nations estimates that nearly 85% of Gaza’s population has been displaced amid relentless bombardment. Most of the territory’s infrastructure has either been heavily damaged or completely destroyed.
The renewed Israeli offensive has drawn international condemnation for breaching humanitarian norms and escalating what rights groups have labeled a genocidal campaign.
