At least 93 Palestinians were killed and over 250 injured in relentless Israeli airstrikes and shelling across the besieged Gaza Strip on Wednesday, deepening the region’s humanitarian crisis.

Israeli military operations in Gaza intensified from early Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of at least 93 Palestinians and injuries to more than 250 others, according to a report by Al Jazeera on Thursday (May 22). The total death toll in Gaza has now exceeded 53,650, as confirmed by the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The attacks mark a significant escalation, with the latest 24-hour period alone accounting for 82 deaths and 262 injuries. Since the onset of the conflict, the number of injured has climbed to over 121,950, highlighting the devastating human cost of the ongoing war.

In addition to the Gaza offensive, Israeli forces reportedly opened fire on foreign diplomats visiting the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. The incident has sparked widespread international condemnation and raised further concerns over Israel’s conduct in conflict zones.

Although a ceasefire agreement was brokered with Hamas in January, it collapsed in March, prompting Israel to resume full-scale military operations in Gaza. In recent days, Israeli ground operations have expanded alongside intensified aerial bombardments, worsening the already dire conditions for civilians.

Meanwhile, a separate report by Anadolu Agency cited the Palestinian Health Ministry, confirming the updated casualty figures and warning of an escalating humanitarian disaster.

Last November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and then-Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. The renewed offensive has reignited global scrutiny and calls for accountability.
