Italy assures facilitation of visa applications for Bangladeshis

Italy’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, has assured of a swift decision regarding the long-standing visa applications of Bangladeshi workers.

She gave this assurance during a courtesy meeting with Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain on Wednesday morning (February 19).

Later, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned that Deputy Minister Tripodi expressed Italy’s strong support for Bangladesh’s interim government and praised the ongoing reform efforts aimed at building a peaceful Bangladesh. She also expressed satisfaction with the trade relations between the two countries, especially wanting to expand cooperation in the textile and defense sectors.

The Foreign Adviser called for further Italian investment based on the dynamic economic relations between Bangladesh and Italy, especially in the greenfield sector.

Md. Touhid Hossain also informed that the current government, particularly through BIDA, is working tirelessly to create a better business environment in Bangladesh by simplifying processes for foreign investors.

He welcomed Italy’s interest in contributing to the modernization of Bangladesh’s defense sector, noting that Bangladesh seeks to diversify its sources for defense sector supplies.
