Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has indicated that India is progressing with its plan to take control of the entire Kashmir region, having already completed three key stages. The next phase, if successful, could see India gaining control over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

On Wednesday, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar shared details of India’s plans regarding Kashmir during a session at the Chatham House think tank in London. The session, titled “India’s Rise and Role in the World,” provided insights into the steps India has taken and its future goals regarding the disputed region.

Jaishankar explained that India had already made significant progress in resolving most issues related to Kashmir. He noted that the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special autonomy to Kashmir, was the first step. The second step involved improving the region’s growth, economic activity, and restoring social justice. The third phase, which saw high voter turnout in the elections, was deemed successful by the Indian government.

Jaishankar also hinted at the next phase of India’s Kashmir strategy, focusing on “retrieving the stolen part of Kashmir”—referring to the region under Pakistani control. He stated, “Once this is done, the Kashmir issue will be resolved.”

In a separate incident, Jaishankar faced an unsettling moment after the session when a Khalistani supporter breached security and tore the Indian flag in front of him. The individual ran up to Jaishankar’s car with the flag, and despite security hesitating, the person managed to rip it before being escorted away by officers.

Liberty News’ international correspondent states that following the incident, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs expressed deep concern over the security breach during Jaishankar’s visit to the UK, labeling the individual as an “extremist” for the act of flag desecration.
