In a rare gesture of inclusivity, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has welcomed people of other faiths to contest elections under the party’s banner, urging for unity, justice, and genuine representation.

Addressing a harmony gathering at the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in Kakrail on Wednesday evening, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman emphasized that his party seeks to build an inclusive political platform welcoming individuals from all religions.

“We want to create a garden of many flowers, not a place for owls to perch,” he metaphorically stated, denouncing divisive politics and encouraging cooperation across beliefs. “If someone from another religion wants to contest under our banner, they are most welcome,” he affirmed.

Dr. Rahman further called for justice against past oppressors, stating, “Those who committed injustice must be brought back to the country and held accountable.” He criticized hypocrisy in politics, saying, “We do not want a culture where people show respect upfront and hurl abuse from behind.”

Organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka South City, the gathering brought together individuals from different religious backgrounds in an effort to foster mutual respect and understanding.

Dr. Rahman urged attendees not to view the invitation as a mere assurance but as a heartfelt call to action. “Come forward if you like our vision. Campaign under the Jamaat banner and share your own ideas freely with the public. If you don’t join, at least give us a place in your heart — not for us, but for yourself and the nation,” he said.
