A high-level delegation from the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, led by Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, left Dhaka on Thursday night for China at the invitation of the Chinese government.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen and top Jamaat leaders, including Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, saw the eight-member delegation off at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the party said in a press release.

Earlier, speaking about his upcoming visit to China, the Jamaat ameer said, “There is a friendly relationship between Bangladesh and China. We will discuss how to take this relationship to a new height.”

He said, “China’s remarkable rise is something the world can learn from. We hope to learn and gain valuable insights from China through this visit, and they will also have the opportunity to learn about us.”

The party’s five-day visit will conclude on 15 July.

On 22 June, a high-level BNP delegation, led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, also went to China on a five-day visit.
