After months of anticipation, Jamalpur Science and Technology University (JSTU) has officially adopted a new logo, fulfilling a long-standing demand by its students. The logo was approved by the university’s Logo Design Committee on Tuesday (24 June) and made public through an official order on Wednesday (25 June).
According to a notice signed by the university registrar, the newly approved logo will now be used in all institutional, administrative, and official documents. It has already been published on the university’s official website (www.jstu.ac.bd).
The development comes more than a year after students began campaigning for a new identity for the university, especially following the political transition on 5 August 2024. Students had argued that the previous name and logo were associated with a political family, prompting calls for a more neutral and academic representation.
In response, on 16 January 2025, the interim government renamed the institution to Jamalpur Science and Technology University. However, students continued to express dissatisfaction over the absence of a proper university logo even after the name change.
Although the university administration initiated a logo design competition with student participation, delays in the final approval process led to frustration among the student body. That frustration has now given way to relief and celebration.
One student remarked, “The old logo neither looked appealing nor reflected the spirit or purpose of our university. This new logo symbolizes our identity, uniqueness, and progress.”
Students believe the new logo will serve as a modern emblem of the university’s mission, academic aspirations, and connection to the heritage of Jamalpur.
With this step, the university aims to solidify its distinct institutional identity as it moves forward in its journey of higher education and research.
