Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal has announced a sit-in at Shahbagh and Intercontinental intersections from Thursday morning to evening demanding justice for the murder of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a student of Institute of Education and Research of Dhaka University.
A group of JCD students held a sit-in in front of the proctor’s office demanding the resignation of the proctor in the Shammo murder case on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, three more people have been arrested in the Shammo murder case.
A notice signed by JCD office secretary Jahangir Alam said, “A sit-in will be held at Shahbagh intersection and Intercontinental intersection on Thursday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm to protest the negligence in the investigation into the murder case of Chhatra Dal leader Shahriar Alam Shammo and to demand the immediate arrest of all the accused including the main killer involved in the murder, fair trial and a safe campus.”
Meanwhile, JCD and leftist organisations held a sit-in under the banner of ‘Students Against Terrorism’ demanding the resignation of the Vice Chancellor and Proctor, who have accepted responsibility for the two murders on campus in nine months and the measures taken to ensure student safety.
