Member Secretary of Government Bangla College Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal unit, Faisal Reza, has been temporarily suspended following allegations that he divorced his wife in order to secure a political position.
Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir approved the decision. At the same time, Joint Convener Hafizur Rahman has been appointed as the Acting Member Secretary of the unit.
Reza was suspended on Monday, April 11, following his divorced wife Shikha’s claim during a press conference held at TSC auditorium of Dhaka University. She also brought various allegations against Reza, including misappropriation of money and gold ornaments, mental & physical harassment.
Meanwhile, in a press release signed by Chhatra Dal’s Office Secretary Jahangir Alam, it was announced that Faisal Reza had been temporarily relieved of his duties. The notice stated that due to specific allegations of violating organizational discipline, Faisal Reza has been removed from all organizational responsibilities within the Government Bangla College unit.
At press conference, Shikha said that she married Faisal on March 28, 2023 and they started their conjugal life soon afterward.
She stated that Faisal was unemployed, she had to bear all household expenses. In addition, Faisal used to send money to his family and brothers abroad using funds taken from her. At one point, she was even forced to send 3 lakh taka for Faisal’s brothers in Malaysia. She alleged that if she refused to give money, Faisal would abuse her physically & mentally.
Shikha added, “After August 5, he took money from me and began avoiding me. He took over a student hall became a leader. At that time, he held the position of Organizing Secretary of Chhatra Dal. Despite covering all his expenses, I couldn’t hold on to him. This incident has damaged my social dignity.”
She also mentioned that she submitted their marriage certificate and a written complaint to the Chhatra Dal party office.
