JCD VP candidate Abidul breaches regulations

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal’s (JCD) Vice-President Candidate Abidul Islam entered a polling centre in the early hours of vote casting on Tuesday morning.

At 8:30am, he visited the site where Jagannath University students were casting votes at the Physical Education Center, violating the code of conduct for candidates, according to a report.

At the time, Abidul also alleged that he was prevented from entering the polling centres at female student dormitories as the university authority did not issue special entry cards for candidates.

Physical Education Center’s Returning Officer Kazi Mostak Gausul Haq told a Bangla newspaper that there is no scope for candidates to enter a polling centre during the elections.

However, Kazi Mostak Gausul Haq said he was outside the polling centre when Abidul entered the polling centre, and could not confirm the violation of regulations.

Upon returning to the polling centre he did not see any candidate there, Kazi Mostak said, suggesting Abidul had already left.
